Castles in the Air – Scottish Borders

Updated: Aug 2, 2019

Always interesting when you take words out of context as Don Maclean does indeed sing these words in this order - “Castles in the Air, I've got a dream I want the world to share in castle walls” – but it has nothing do with his interest in castles! Though he does then continue to sing about “Hills of forest green where the mountains touch the sky” – and in a different parallel universe he could have been singing about the Scottish Borders and some of the relatively unknown Scottish castles in the beautiful rolling countryside. Anyway with this thought in mind and his tune in the air – here are my Top 6 Scottish Borders castles from the air that are worth visiting next time you are in the Scottish Borders. Enjoy or as Don continues in the song – “in the hills away from city strife”.
